Spoken groove Ten Tongues is an ongoing collaboration in sound and word between poet cin salach and musicians Doug Brush, Mark Comiskey, Mark Penner Howell and Mark Messing.
cin is our chief instigator and inspiration. Her text - and her voice - are at the center of everything we create. The music isn’t composed, so much as arrived-at through experimentation. One idea leads to another. We talk about it, or we don’t, but somehow we end up with pieces we all enjoy playing. Grooves are constructed from whatever is at hand. From tubas to turntables. From electric guitar to stuff we find in the alley.
